Life Education Trust

This week we visited the Life Education Bus.

Room 5 covered these ideas

Mobile classroom learning overview:-

o    discuss and share what 'feelings' are and where they live in our bodies

o     talk about how feelings happen and how we don't have control over what we feel but we do have control on how we act when we have these feelings

o     meet 'Billy' on his first day at school and get children to point out how he may be feeling, why and what he or we can help him - displaying kindness

o    How can we keep ourselves safe and where do we go for help

St Joseph's Day

Yesterday we celebrated St Joseph's Day by attending Mass. Today for Hui karakia  Mr K taught us how to make Lillies. Lillies are often represented in pictures of St Joseph.

ZERO WASTE

Room 5 are learning about composting. We learned about what  we need to build a composting bin using layers and tiger worms.  We all enjoyed this learning and hands on building of their own small composting containers. Mrs Collier learned alot from this aswell. Our next step it to take them home and encourage our whanau to build their own compost bins to use those food scraps and help keep them out of our Transfer Stations

Shrove Thursday

Because of the business of our Tuesday this week we had to delay making our pancakes until today. Traditionally Shrove Tuesday sometimes also called Pancake Tuesday is on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday.

Lent Begins.

After Ash Wednesday Mass we made Harakeke Crosses. We will use them to focus on as we contemplate and pray as we journey through Lent together.
